Shinichiro (“Shin”) Mori

Shinichiro Mori focuses his practice on cross-border contracts and disputes, with particular expertise in the environmental and technology sectors.  He regularly advises international companies on complex regulatory and commercial matters in Japan, combining deep knowledge of domestic law with extensive international experience.

Mr. Mori provides strategic legal support to foreign businesses seeking to enter or expand in the Japanese energy and environmental markets.  His counsel covers project development and finance, corporate governance, joint ventures, commercial regulations, and employment law.

In addition, Mr. Mori has significant experience in dispute resolution, including international arbitration and litigation involving energy projects and cross-border commercial conflicts.  He has acted for global corporations in proceedings concerning project agreements, supply contracts, and investment-related disputes, offering practical and strategic guidance throughout the process.  He is committed to delivering practical, business-oriented solutions that enable global clients to achieve sustainable growth and navigate the complexities of Japan’s evolving energy and environmental landscape.

Shunya Suzuki

Shunya Suzuki provides legal support to clients across a wide range of sectors, including energy, environment, real estate, corporate/M&A, and project finance. His practice covers both transactional and regulatory matters, enabling him to deliver comprehensive and business-oriented solutions.

Mr. Suzuki places particular focus on the energy and environmental fields, advising on contract negotiations and regulatory compliance for renewable energy projects and electricity and gas businesses, as well as on regulations relating to environmental laws and regulations.

Kentaro Sano

Kentaro Sano’s practice spans a wide range of corporate matters, including drafting and reviewing contracts, advising on shareholder and board of directors’ meetings, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, crisis management, and handling corporate misconduct and claims.

Mr. Sano also has significant experience in employment and labor law. He advises companies on the preparation of work rules and employment contracts, termination and voluntary resignation procedures, workplace accident and administrative matters, and disciplinary actions, with a view to strengthening corporate compliance systems.

Mr. Sano particularly focuses on the startup sectors.  He assists innovative and fast-growing businesses, including foreign startups entering the Japanese market, in addressing regulatory challenges and establishing robust governance frameworks.

Koichi Nakatani 

Koichi Nakatani is a partner at Mori & Partners whose practice spans technology and software matters, intellectual property, cross-border and domestic M&A, complex commercial disputes, and employment law. He has extensive experience advising global IT vendors on mission-critical system development projects, software licensing, data protection, and IT-related litigation. In the IP field, he represents both Japanese and international companies in brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, and contentious patent and trademark matters, including for luxury fashion houses. 

Koichi also has a strong corporate and transactional practice covering a broad range of industries, including investment funds, real estate, energy, automotive and mobility, consumer goods, manufacturing, hospitality, senior care, and franchise businesses. In employment matters, he advises foreign clients on labor compliance, investigations, labor tribunals, and litigation. 

With more than two decades of experience bridging in-house, international, and private-practice roles, Koichi serves clients ranging from major listed companies to high-growth start-ups. He plays an essential role in connecting the firm’s TMT and technology-driven practice with its corporate and disputes capabilities, and is well positioned to manage high-stakes litigation and complex transactional mandates. 

Prior to joining Mori & Partners, Koichi was a partner at a prominent Tokyo law firm. He began his career as in-house counsel at IBM Japan, where he gained deep insight into technology contracting and large-scale system development projects
